Messi fans around the world will have the opportunity to invest in the collection through Ethernity’s “Messiverse” project.
Soccer superstar Lionel Messi has joined the universe of non-fungible tokens by unveiling his first ever collection of NFT. The FC Barcelona and Argentine national team legend is making his debut through a partnership with Ethernity, a blockchain platform that gives access to limited edition and officially licensed NFTs.
The NFTs are designed by Bosslogic, a leading Australian digital artist who has previously worked with Marvel on its successful Avengers franchise.
« I have been working on this project for a while, I have the honor of working with Ethernity Chain and with Messi for his first official release », stated artist.
According to the Australian artist, the collection will focus on the football superstar and seeks to highlight Messi’s achievements and best moments, as well as his future achievements. Bosslogic has created three great NFT Messi collectibles.
“The man of the future” is the first of the three NFTs. It features an icon of Messi in a bionic form and imagines the football star playing in a cyber football league.
The second collectible is “Worth the Weight”, in which Messi is depicted as Atlas, a formidable Greek mythological figure who would have literally carried the planet on his shoulders. According to the creator of the NFT, this representation represents the abilities of Messi, who has allowed his teams to achieve unprecedented victories over the years.
The last piece offered at the next sale is the NFT “The King Piece”. Here we see Messi as the” king of the board”, the one who has repeatedly determined games by his goals. It also shows the Argentine lifting the Ballon d’Or trophy, one of six trophies he won during his brilliant career, which has earned him the status of the greatest player of all time (GOAT).
The three NFTs will be released on August 20, 2021 on the Ethernity site, and a fourth NFT will be released at the end of the month.
Non-fungible tokens have seen a massive spike in interest since last year, with major offerings from celebrities, mainstream media and iconic art hitting the market with great success.
Recently, Canadian e-commerce giant Shopify announced that merchants can now sell NFTs on its platform, which could spark even more interest in the industry.
